ROLE: Photographer & Editing

SHOOT TYPE: Documentary Photography

DESCRIPTION

We celebrated a year together with crown brooches and birthdays shared before the year's end. Unfortunately, the brooches, nothing but cheap gilt, caught the office glare.

Colleagues of a particular demographic saw its as an insignia, a threat, not just colleagues celebrating their time together. Some whispered hierarchy, plots or joked about hidden agendas. Execs convened. Meetings multiplied. Smiles were recategorised as threats.

Yet, the photos remain a record of joy before it turned into evidence. No one said racist, they did express concern. But concern, in any corporate setting may as well be a blade. This collection asks: what can do you with a frame when the frame is already rigged? The answer is reframe everything by showing the plain and honest truth. If there was anything learned from this is, it is that you can accomplish anything if you survive Whiteness.
